The Arizona Wildcats put up a valiant effort in Week 6, ultimately falling to the No. 9 USC Trojans, 43-41, in double overtime. A big reason for the Wildcats’ success was freshman quarterback Noah Fifita.
Fifita completed 25 of his 35 pass attempts for 303 passing yards and 5 touchdowns with an interception.
As a result, Fifita was named the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Week.

Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita has been named the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Week after leading the Wildcats in a close loss to No. 9 USC in triple overtime. In the 43-41 loss, Fifita completed 25 of his 35 pass attempts, tallying 303 passing yards and 5 touchdowns with an interception. Two of Fifita’s touchdown passes came during the overtime periods, where he found wide receiver Jacob Cowing in both overtime and double overtime. The Wildcats fell short in knocking off the Trojans with an unsuccessful 2-point chance in triple overtime, but they still put up a tremendous fight against one of the top ranked teams in the nation. The Wildcats look to bounce back next week when they travel to Gesa Field to take on No. 19 Washington State.
The Wildcats return to action in Week 7 on Saturday, October 14, when they take on the No. 19 Washington State Cougars. Kickoff at Martin Stadium is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
