College football polls: Updated AP Top 25, Coaches Poll rankings after Week 7

GH_News

There have been some shake-ups throughout the college football season. The one after Week 7 might be the biggest so far.

In the game of the weekend — possibly the year — Washington took down Oregon with a late touchdown drive in a battle of top-10 teams. Notre Dame rebounded from a rough loss to Louisville by demolishing USC by 28 points, making it two losses for teams previously ranked in the top 10 in Week 7. North Carolina held off Miami late to push the Hurricanes out of the top 25, while Oregon State took down UCLA.

And even beyond the ranked battles, there were several upsets by unranked opponents. Washington State was boat-raced 44-6 by an Arizona team that came up just short in back-to-back losses to Washington and USC. Pittsburgh blanked Louisville in the second half to stun the Cardinals fresh off their massive win against Notre Dame. Missouri rebounded from its LSU loss to thump Kentucky by 17 points. And Kansas gave up the lead late to Oklahoma State to fall on the road against the Cowboys.

Fans still won’t be seeing the first set of College Football Playoff rankings until Oct. 31, but with three once-undefeated teams going down and several other losses for ranked foes, the CFP race is getting to take a more clear shape midway through October.
